fantastic riverside retreat
riverside location attentive team equipped room
i enjoyed the location right by the river. i spent time watching the world go by. the hotel team was attentive, even remembering our drink orders. the room was large and well-equipped (soho house toiletries were a nice touch).

Victorian Charm and Modern Comforts
fine architecture pretty landscaping delicious food
I found the main building quite fine with its victorian architecture. the grounds are well-kept with pretty landscaping and plenty of seating by the river. i enjoyed playing tennis. The courts were very nice. lunch and dinner were delicious, the food was perfect..
upon arrival, i noted that no one assisted with our luggage or provided a rundown of check-out times. additionally, i noticed the spa looked outdated and not very tidy. piles of wet towels remained by the pool for over 24 hours, somewhat off-putting.

the staff in the bar and restaurant areas were friendly and knowledgeable. service was attentive but discreet, which i appreciated. i felt the staff showed a lot of care making our stay enjoyable.

the hotel has a swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. i found the tennis courts to be very nice and well-kept. the grounds were beautiful and very well looked after.

my room was comfortable and spacious. the bedding and towels provided were nice. the room was clean, and the bed was big. a small birthday cake was a nice touch.

Underwhelming Experience at a High Price
dirty cups patchy service
The grounds are pretty. but on the Sunday morning there were bottles and glasses from the night before by the river and little things like some of the paths having weeds growing up through them. Not terrible, just not premium. I also noticed the breakfast service was patchy and oddly disorganized. Cups of coffee were ordered individually, and when second cups were brought, old dirty cups were not removed. It all felt a bit haphazard. It's hard to believe this is a four-star hotel.
